The Rt. Hon. Earl of Iveagh

The Guinness Choir is delighted that The Rt. Hon. Edward Guinness, 4th Earl of Iveagh, has agreed to act as the Honorary Patron of The Guinness Choir. Edward Guinness is a direct descendant of the original Arthur Guinness, the founder, in 1759, of The Guinness Brewery.
Edward (also known as Ned) was born and raised in Farmleigh, Dublin, and educated in Ireland and England. He maintains extensive farmland at Elveden Hall, Suffolk. He is active in the promotion of Guinness beer, the interests of social housing and community amenities in central Dublin. He is very involved in seeking the restoration and reuse of the Iveagh Markets in the Liberties in Dublin 8.
In October 2025, with Antonia Hart, he published ‘Guinness: A Family Succession’.
Through the patronage of the 4th Earl of Iveagh, we are very happy to maintain our link to the Guinness family, from the foundation of the Choir in the Brewery in 1951 and its development from a workplace society to its place as one of Ireland’s foremost independent choirs.
