Iveagh Garden’s Guild

The 75th Anniversary of the Iveagh Gardens Garden Guild

On 28th August, members of The Guinness Choir took part in special event to mark the 75th Anniversary of The Garden Guild of the Iveagh Gardens in Crumlin. The event took place mainly in the open and happily the sun shone down on proceedings. The estate was originally built by the Guinness Company and the members of the Garden Guild were delighted to welcome our Honorary Patron, Lord Iveagh, his wife Clare and sons Arthur & Rupert to Iveagh Gardens.  A great array of trophies and certificates were presented by Lord Iveagh in a special tent, where there was a historic display of photos and mementos.  The presentations were followed by some appropriate songs from the choir, including ‘Down by the Sally Gardens’ and ‘In Dublin’s Fair City’.   Then to finish a great afternoon, all were treated to a wonderful spread of homemade treats.  The members of the choir were delighted to be involved in this special event, which displayed Dublin’s community spirit at its best.
